Seniors Must Be Given Priority - Critique of the Current Revison of the Slovak COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

Commentary of prof. P. Sýkora for the Slovak newspaper SME about the inconsistency of the current revision of the Slovak Covid-19 vaccination plan:

"The displacement of the second most frequently dying group of people to the VIII. phase of Covid-19 vaccination is ethically unjustifiable."

Despite all the sympathy for the public call to return students to schools as soon as possible by preferential vaccination of teachers, this cannot be at the expense of the higher number of deaths that will result from such a shift in the vaccination schedule. Current mortality statistics from around the world confirm the fact that the most risky factor in covid-19 mortality is age - the risk of death increases sharply with increasing age.
